Allowing you the time and space to explore issues that are important in your life with a trained counsellor who will treat you with respect, honesty and warmth

Why Visit Counselling?

Often we have people that we rely on to listen to us and help when we have worries and troubles, but sometimes, for a number of reasons we feel unable to ask them for help.  Maybe the problem seems too trivial or too difficult, maybe we are too embarrassed or ashamed about something or maybe we would simply prefer a completely neutral person and place to discuss what is on our minds.  Counselling offers you the chance to get stuff off your chest.

How Do I Get an Appointment?

Referrals into our service are via NHS Talking Therapies 01695 684177 or https://www.lscft.nhs.uk/talking-therapies

When we receive your referral from NHS Talking Therapies we will contact you to discuss suitable times for your appointment.  We offer ‘face to face’, remote by video or telephone.

What Happens During Sessions?

Counselling - You get to talk to us as much or as little as you like.  Your counsellor gets to listen carefullly and then checks out that he or she has really heard properly.  As this special kind of talking and listening process goes on you will begin to see more clearly what is happening in your life and you will have a better idea of what decisions to make and how to make them.  We will not be telling you what to do as we believe that you are capable of making your own decisions.  Our job is to offer a warm, supportive environment for you to sort things out for yourself.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – talking and listening are key but also collaboration and working together with the therapist on agreed goals and outcomes.  We look at how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are connected; with interventions to look at making positive changes.

In addition to this, some of our counsellors offer a combination of approaches and tailor the therapy to the needs of the client.
